About Us

What is a dog park? Omaha’s dog parks are completely fenced dog havens designed for safe, off-leash play between canines of all sizes. The parks are broken into 3 sections, 2 for all dogs and 1 for small dogs. One of the all-dog sides is locked each year to allow for grass to grow – helping to keep mud at bay. The small dog side is for dogs under 30 pounds to run safely without getting tangled up with much bigger dogs. This could lead to injuries, which we certainly try to avoid. Please remember to bring water and read the park rules to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.

The Omaha Dog Park Advocates is a non-profit, 501c3 organization. Our goal is to provide safe and clean off-leash dog parks in the City of Omaha. Our dog parks are fenced, off-leash areas where dog owners can bring their dogs to play, exercise, and socialize with other dogs and their owners. With the help of generous donors and friends, and in cooperation with the City of Omaha, the Hefflinger, Dewey and Hanscom Dog Parks give the dogs who love us so unconditionally a special place to go to let their inner spirit run free.

We appreciate your support and any comments or suggestions you might have.

Scoop Your Dog’s Poop

In your yard, neighborhood, and the Dog Park, it’s always a good idea!

Dog poop is a problem we deal with on a daily basis. It’s estimated that at least 40% of dog owners leave their pet’s poop where it lands, never giving it a second thought. With nearly 75 million dogs in the United States alone, that’s a lot of poop being left behind!
